Joy's Top Ten Reasons for Using Cloth Diapers
10. The cost! I can’t afford to throw away my money on
disposable diapers. Life is expensive. Spend your money on something you can keep, not on something to occupy the
landfills.
9. They are better for my baby. Disposable diapers have scary
things in them and we’re not exactly sure what they do to our children, but we do know that diaper rashes increase with
disposable diaper use.
8. I love the earth. It’s a beautiful place. God gave us
stewardship over this planet so we could use it properly and not destroy it. I’d like to do my part to keep it as
beautiful as possible.
7. They are really cute! Yucky plastic or paper disposable
diapers are ugly, ugly, ugly!
6. They are more comfortable for baby. When your child is old
enough to vote, ask him/her if they would prefer to wear soft fabric or itchy plastic. Cloth wins every time!
5. The smell! I don’t want my house to smell like a sewage
plant. Disposable diapers really reek, much more than cloth. I get to wash my cloth diapers every 2-3 days, which helps
to further contain the smell. Garbage day is only once a week, and the disposable diaper pail is unbearable by then!
4. The choices! There are so many different styles, fabrics,
prints, colors, and other options to choose from in the world of cloth diapers. With disposables, all you get to choose
is which annoying cartoon character to plaster on your baby’s pelvis.
3. I like to sew, and I love the creative outlet that I find
in designing, inventing, and making different types of diapers and covers. It’s really fun.
2. I like the feeling of doing things my own way instead of
blindly following the masses and the dictates of the media.
1. I want to stubbornly defy everyone who said “Let’s see how
long she lasts on this weird cloth diaper kick,”, or, “I give her two weeks.” Oh yeah? Watch me!
